Bible Lesson: JESUS HEALS A BLIND MAN John 9:1–23
Word Up: I WILL PUT OTHERS FIRST!
Memory Verse: “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:8
Our Bible story is about a time when Jesus healed a man who had been blind since birth. Jesus made mud from His spit and dirt and put it on the blind man's eyes. Then Jesus told the man to go and wash the mud off in the Pool of Siloam. The man did as Jesus said, and he could see! It was a miracle. Then the religious leaders wanted to know what had happened. They were unhappy that Jesus had healed a man on the Sabbath—the day when people were supposed to rest. They chose to focus on that rather than on the fact that the man had been healed. Jesus had seen the man and cared enough to do something to help him. Jesus truly showed the man love by healing him. Jesus knew that healing on the Sabbath would make the religious leaders mad, but He put the man’s need first. Jesus helped the man anyway and showed him LOVE.
• What are ways that you can show love to someone this week? How can you put them first?
• Write it down on a sticky note and place it on your desk, mirror, or anywhere to remind you.
• Pray that God would show you who you can show His love to and do it this week.
"Lord Jesus, thank You for your example of showing love and putting others first. You showed it not only to the blind man, but to all of us when You died on the cross and rose from the dead to save us. Thank You for your love for us. Please help us, Holy Spirit, to show Your love to others this week. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
